Things I Love: May 4th- May 11th
After a long hiatus, I’m back to blogging on the internet to strangers. Just a way for me to share my life and my journey. Even if the only person looking is me.
In My Mental Health Era
After avoidance, I have finally taken the journey of making my Mental Health a priority. So I've been enrolled in an IOP program for the last three weeks virtually. A total of 9 hours of therapy, and so far, things have been good. I like the people in my group therapy sessions. I do think 9 hours of therapy can be exhausting, but it has been very educational when dealing with my panic attacks and anxiety. This whole time, I've been wondering why I dislike therapy, only to realize I hate CBT therapy.
Also, this is the 1st time I have ever filed for a Leave of Absence and Short Term Disability. The documentation of it all is an added stressor. They don’t make it easy for anyone.
Life Lately
Just my luck, I caught COVID-19. You would think that after 5 years and multiple times of having Covid-19, the symptoms would not be so harmful. However, for at least the 1st two days, I felt like I was hit by a bus: the body aches, the chills, the high ass fever, and the headache. COVID is the worst, and it’s hard when you're alone. Living alone and being sick is brutal and not for the weak.
Due to my sickness, my 1st week of starting The Artist Way has been a bust. When you're trying to survive a 104-degree fever, you're not thinking about writing morning pages and going on an artist date. So, Week 1 will have to wait until this Sunday to try again.
All Things Music, Books & TV
Current Read: I Want to Die but I want to eat Tteokbokki. This is the only thing getting me out of my slump. It’s not a life-changing self-help book, so don’t pick it up if you think it will help you overcome your depression. The book was 1st published in South Korea in 2018, a memoir of the author and her psychiatrist over 12 weeks. The book is a transcript of their conversation. The author ends each session/chapter with an essay/thinkpiece of the conversation. The end essay was my favorite throughout the book. It is an easy read, and I'm happy to know she has a second book I can pick up once I finish this one.
