Things I Love: April 10th-14th
Sad Music Era
Lately, when it comes to music, I’m in my sad phase. Best by Garcia Abram and Ceilings by Lizzie McAlpine have taken over my FYP on Tik Tok, but their albums have taken over my Spotify. I’m very much an indie music type. I adore Taylor Swift, and I have officially added Garcia Abrams and Lizzie McAlpine to the list. I’m a sucker for emotional transparency in songwriting. If my Spotify could talk, it would ask if I’m okay. It would also expose how many times I have played Difficult and erase me in a week.
If you haven’t already and like Taylor Swift or Phoebe Bridges, you will like these two artists as well. You can find both albums on Spotify and Apple Music.
T’is the Season for Music Festivals:
Music festivals will always have a place in my heart. I expected to go to a few this year. As this weekend kicks off Coachella, music festival season is here. I’m experiencing FOMO, knowing I won’t be blessed with seeing Frank Ocean. You will find me this weekend watching live streams of Taylor Swift and Frank Ocean via Tik Tok.
Patio Season & Farmers Market
For the 1st time in months, the weather outside is giving signs of spring. It’s been between 70 and 75 degrees here in Delaware. I’m loving every minute of it. I find myself getting up early to do my morning hike to start my day. The local shop and restaurant have officially put out their outdoor seating. Soon, the local farmer's market by my apartment will resume. My mood is just better when the weather is nice.
What I’m Reading & Watching
Attached: The New Science of Adult Attachment and How It Can Help You Find and Keep Love By Amir Levine and Rachel S.F Heller: The book discussed the three distinct styles of attachment: anxious, secure, and avoidant. It turns out I have an avoidant attachment style (not shocking). Once, I finish reading, I’ll do a review. I binge-watched two shows this week.
Beef on Netflix: It’s about a road-rage incident between two strangers and the aftermath of the feuding domino effect surrounding their lives. The movie is an A24 production, so I already knew it would be good. As I watched, every episode became more and more unhinged. It’s a must-watch, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it makes my top movie of the year.
Tiny Beautiful Things on Hulu: The show follows Clare, who turned 50 and now faces the fallout of giving her daughter's college fund to her brother to save their dead mother’s house. I was told this show is a book adaption by Cheryl Strayed. I watched based on the fact that it was produced by the Reese Witherspoon Production Company. I stayed because the storyline is rooted in the real world about life choices. The show went back and forth between Clare in her 20s and the present. The 10th episode is emotionally packed, which kept me until the end. I plan on reading the book.
