Single-Serve Breakfast: How to Make a Delicious Bagel for One
All I Need Is One Bagel
When you're living alone and you want to make a meal, it can be hard when the recipe calls for multiple servings. Sometimes you need to make one. Here’s my go-to recipe for making one bagel for those who live alone.
Ingredients
½ cup of warm water
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 c bread flour
Salt (pinch)
Olive Oil ( to grease the bowl
Instructions
Step One:
Combine ½ cup of warm water, 1 teaspoon yeast, and 1 teaspoon sugar, and let ingredients activate for 10-15 minutes.
Step Two:
Add a pinch of salt and 1 cup of bread flour.
Step 3: Knead
Heavily flour the surface; add flour to the dough (as needed), and knead for 10–15 minutes.
Step 4: Rise
Lightly grease a bowl with olive oil (any oil can work), cover it with a damp cloth, and place it in the fridge overnight.
Step 5: Shape & Roll
Next day, pull out the refrigerated dough. Flour the surface before kneading the dough. Shape the dough into a bagel. Boil the bagels in the water for 1 minute on each side. Take it out of the water. You can coat the top of the bagel with any toppings you like. I usually use everything seasoning from Trader Joes
Step 6: Bake
Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes on the middle rack and 10 minutes on the top rack, or until golden brown. You can also air fry at 350 for 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
