Ode to Music Festivals
Reason Why I Love Music Festivals
I love festivals. I went to my first festival, Firefly, in 2014, when I was 22. Since then, I have been to at least one festival a year. It’s my favorite place to be. I decided to list a few reasons why I love festivals.
The Music
First and foremost, the music is why I’m there, like everyone else. I get to see some of my favorite artists in one setting. The number of times I saw Kendrick Lamar without going to a solo concert would make people jealous. I have seen Kendrick 4 times due to him being a surprise guest or the headliner. Also, the bigger festival has allowed me to discover new music. From EDM to Pop to Funk. I have discovered so many artists that I would not have known if it haven’t been for festivals.
The People
The human experience is the greatest experience to have. Everyone is so warm and welcoming. People helping people. I get to dance and hang with my friends for two to three days, enjoying good music. People care for strangers and respect others without hesitation. There was one time I lost my phone, and strangers helped me look for it. Also, there’s a lot of sharing. You connect with people on a different level.
The Experience
The escapism of it all. You get to enjoy good music, good people, and good food. Usually, there are tons of cool activities and things to do while there. I love the excitement leading up to the festivals, the planning of the outfits, who we must see when we’re there, and the interaction with others. I treat festivals like an all-inclusive experience because it is.
Be Free
I get to step out of my comfort zone and be free. I can dress how I want and dance how I want. A lot of people find it shocking since I struggle with social anxiety. However, I feel at peace when I’m at music festivals. You get to be creative and go all out.
