Music Festival Essentials

Festival Season is upon us. Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned festival-goer, being prepared can make or break your experience. As someone who has been to a few music festivals over the years,. I have learned a few essential items needed to make your experience incredible.

Essentials

  • Festival ticket: Even if you forget everything else, this one’s a must!

  • Money: Whether you're using cash or a card. You do need a few bucks to buy water and food and maybe some merch during the event.

  • Photo ID: The festival might check your ID upon entry. Plus, these events definitely card you for alcoholic beverages.

  • Sunglasses: Fun glasses are better than your nice pair! Leave the nice pair at home; I learned the hard way. It’s easy to lose things.

  • Shoes: For me, at least, wear shoes that are comfortable because you will be walking a lot. If you wear sandals, I suggest wearing quality ones and not the dollar store flip-flops. You run the risk of your shoes falling apart if the quality is not so great. I recommend wearing shoes you wouldn’t mind getting dirt on.

  • Sunscreen: The higher the SPF, the better! Note that some festivals will not allow spray sunscreen due to the aerosol.

  • Lip Balm: Nothing kills the good vibes more than having chapped lips!

  • Baby wipes/Feminine wipes: Clutch for the bathrooms and to fresh up after being in the sun all day

  •  Toilet Seat Covers: Life changers for porta potties, even if you're not sitting on the toilets.

  • Outdoor blanket:  No Chairs allowed. No problem, bring outdoor blankets.

  • Other Items:

    • An empty non-glass water bottle

    • Gum

    • Mini keychain flashlight—to see in the porta potty at night.

    • Electrolytes packet

    • Travel Size Tylenol

    • Hand sanitizer

    • Mini Deodorant

    • Rain poncho or jacket

Electronics

This is not the time to do work, so definitely don’t bring your laptop or iPad. However, the list below is a game-changer.

  • Portable phone charger: Your phone battery will die at least once during the day. If you get lucky, the festival will have a charger station, but usually, they are packed. Bring your own to save yourself stress and time.

  • Polaroid camera/ Point and Shoot Camera: Cameras with interchangeable lenses are prohibited, so throw it back to the 90s way.

  • Travel fan: Mini, lightweight fans are useful; you will get hot at some point, being in the sun all day.
