Travel Apps to Make Your Trip Easier
If you’re anything like me, you probably have too many apps on your phone. Especially if you're always on the go. There are endless apps for travel, but I listed my top 15 travel apps that I have on my phone and think are worth taking up space. When planning or on a trip, I find this application great for making my life so much easier.
XE Currency
When you travel internationally, it’s important to have a currency converter. XE is my favorite for my travels because it works offline. So those times when your Wi-Fi connection is sketchy can be a lifesaver.
Trip It
Trip It is an itinerary app that is easy to use to organize all of my itinerary information in one place. It helps when I have multiple destinations and hotels.
Google Maps
Usually, I’m a fan of Waze and Apple Maps, but when traveling internationally or not locally, Google Maps is supreme. Google Maps’ navigation function easy to map out walking, and driving our public transportation routes. Also, I can download areas ahead of time to view them when I’m offline. Google Maps saved me when I got lost in Bali trying to find my way back to my villa.
Google Translate
This is one of the best travel apps to have when you're out of the country and don’t speak the language. You are able to use the app with or without the internet. You can even take photos of something written in another language, and it will translate. For example, signs or menus.
App In The Air
You can plan, book, and manage your travel. My favorite feature is it gives you an overview of how many miles and time you have traveled throughout the year. Also, it’s a fun way to see all of your past travels in one place.
Nord VPN
Having a VPN while browsing public internet services is critical to keeping your personal information safe. Over the year, I have had a few VPN services, but this one continues to rate the highest.
Flight Aware
The best flight tracker app. The app provided accurate real-time and historical flight prediction reports. You can view the delay status, and airport status, and see the plane travel to and from each destination.
Luggage Hero
The best app to locate a storage service for your luggage. Your next layover can help you stow away your carry-on luggage while you explore the city.
SeatGuru
Provide details about your airplane, from their on-flight amenities to your airplane seating.
WhatsApp is used globally as a communication tool. I found it great for exchanging contacts with people you meet internationally. How it works is that the app will create a unique number using your cell phone number.
Hostel World
One of the best travel apps for booking hotels allows you to book and change reservations all over the world. You can find awesome hostels globally.
TripAdvisor
The best app to look for honest reviews of hotels and restaurants while traveling.
Skyscanner
My favorite app for finding the cheapest flight around the world. You can do a normal search or filter app to find cheap destinations by dates. You can also load your flights and track them.
Priority Pass
If you travel long enough, you have experienced long layovers and delays. Priority passes can be used to provide access to all the airline lounges at a cost. A standard annual membership costs $99 and gives you access to 1,300 airport lounges. There is a $35 member visit fee. If you travel often the pass is worth the price
Citymapper
Mostly used for transportation. This app is an alternative to Google Maps.
