10 GREAT TIPS BEFORE HEADING TO THE BLUE LAGOON
TIPS FOR THE BEST EXPERIENCE AT BLUE LAGOON
PRE-BOOKING IS YOUR BEST FRIEND:
There are over one million visitors to The Blue Lagoon every year. It’s the number one attraction in Iceland. If your going during peak season please book in advance. Even if you decided to book a few days before would save you disappointment. Booking the day of is risky. Book Here
GO EARLY:
The early bird gets the worm. Going early, you can beat the crowd of people. During my visit, we went in the afternoon and ended up seeing the sunset. It was super crowded by the time the sunset.
RECOMMEND HAVING TWO TOWELS:
Every package comes with one towel and one towel only. You are allowed to bring your own towel and I would highly recommend you do. I ended up going to the Lagoon with my towel only for it to end soak. It’s nice and warm going in but exiting out of the Lagoon was not so fun when it’s cold outside and the wind hits your wet skin.
HYDRATE
You should always be getting your daily ounces of water intake every day. Since you’re in warm sometimes hot warms. It’s important to stay hydrated. There are ice-cold water stations around the Lagoon if you forget.
DON’T RUSH, MAKE IT A DAY:
If you have other plans after going to the Blue Lagoon, I suggest canceling. The visit is not something you want to rush through. It’s an experience to soak up and take your time. I would crave a full day to experience what The Blue Lagoon has to offer to get the full experience. Plan to spend between 3-5 hours.
BRING LOTS OF CONDITIONER:
The geothermal water is packed with mineral that is good for your skin, but, not good for your hair. If you’re like me and have color-treated hair, curly hair can cause so much dryness. It will suck the moisture out of your hair and make it brittle. Lather your hair with conditioner before getting in the water or avoid getting your hair wet. Make sure you bring lots of leave-in conditioner for the aftermath. You will need it, every hair type needs conditioner.
THE LAGOON IS NOT A HOT TUB:
The water stays between 98- 104 throughout the year. Depending on where you are located throughout the Lagoon the temperature will change. Find your own sweet spot.
MUD MASK:
My favorite part was lathering my face and arms with the white silica mud mask. It helps smooth and clear up skin. I recommend leaving the mask on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing off in the water.
WATERPROOF ITEMS:
Bring a waterproof phone case or a Go Pro. Nothing will ruin an experience like dropping your expensive phone in water. I had a waterproof phone case with a strap, so I was able to take so many pictures.
HAVE FUN:
Immerse yourself in the one-of-a-kind experience, also there are so many other natural hot springs around Iceland. Explore.
