Start a  Squarespace Blog in 7 Steps

If you’re reading this post, it’s probably because you’re thinking about starting a blog. Starting a blog can be a bit overwhelming with all the different platforms to choose from. Fear Not! This post will teach you how to create a simple blog in seven steps.

Step One: Pick A Niche

Before you sign up, you should identify your niche. Will you be starting a food blog, a lifestyle blog, a fitness blog, etc.? The best way to pick a niche is to identify your interests and focus on the individuals who will be your target audience.

Step Two: Sign up for Squarespace

Click here to sign up for Squarespace. Choose the best plan for you that will suit your needs and budget.  Lucky for you, if you’re not ready to commit to the site, you can sign up for a 14-day free trial and build a blog to see if you like the site. Squarespace currently has two versions: 7.1 and 7.0.

Step Three: Pick A Template

Squarespace has tons of templates you can pick from. Choose the one you feel fits your niche and personal brand.  At any time, you can change your mind and change the template at a later time. Once you’ve done this, you will be as to create an account so you can start your blog.

Step Four: Pick a Domain

A domain is a website address; for example, lifewitheb.com is my domain. The reason why I recommend you do this first is that you don’t want to center your site around a name and the name is already taken on the web.  

  • From the Home Menu Select Settings > Domains

  • Click Use An Domain I Own or Buy A Domain For $20

Step Five:  Set Up Your Blog

Once you have chosen a template, you can start building your site using the “Page” “tab in the main menu and selecting “Blog” At this point, you can explore the different ways to drag and drop images and videos and add posts.

Step Six: Publish the Post

To create your first blog post, click on the Blog page in the main menu and select “add new post”” Write your post, add images, videos, or whatever you see fit using the tools within the site.

Step Seven: Promote Your Blog

YAY!!! You have created a blog that is ready to be published and promoted. Share your blog posts on other social media sites and build a community.
